The YMCA Swimathon 2013 almost doubled its fundraising efforts in its second year raising almost $211,000 to enable more Australians in need the chance to learn to swim and be safe around water.

Preliminary results show in excess of $100,000 has been raised across more than 100 YMCA-owned or managed pools that hosted the event, with this amount continuing to rise.

YMCA Cleans Up Australia

As part of Business Clean Up Australia Day, the YMCA Australia staff donated some of their time as a team to clean up one of their local areas.
YMCA Australia arranged with City of Melbourne to spend two hours on Tuesday morning cleaning up the area near the mouth of the Moonee Ponds Creek, near Docklands Drive (see map). This was an area identified by City of Melbourne that would benefit with their efforts.

The YMCA is excited to announce it will continue to manage two award winning Sydney aquatic & fitness facilities; the Ian Thorpe Aquatic and Fitness Centre and the Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre.
"Since opening under YMCA management in 2008, there have been approximately two million visits to the two centres, with annual visitor numbers of more than 500,000," Richard Price, General Manager at YMCA of Sydney said.

Centre management are excited to announce the trial as a result of the recent members survey in which over 200 members provided feedback. Previously the centre closed at 7pm on Friday nights.
